Default FTRA install help

Well this is really pissing me off. I got my FTRA yesterday and went to put it on today. Well needless to say things didn't go so well. I pulled everything off, did the cutting requried, started to re-install everything, and when I went to put the FTRA part in it won't go all the way down so the holes line up. The top part of the FTRA(the part that sits directly under the airbox) is all the way down in the front, but up just a bit in the back(closet to the maf). I have the bottom piece past the radiator support, but the holes won't line up - they are up to far on the FTRA. I have pulled, pryed, and sworn a lot and it just won't go. I wouldn't think I would need to enlarge the radiator support holes and the deflector holes. What the hell??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am about ready to do something violent because the first part only took me 15 minutes to do and I have messed around with getting the damn holes to even come close for over an hour now.

Yeah, I got the instructions from fast toys. Everything is fine with the install and it was a piece of cake except I can't get the bolt holes to line up. So basically tomorrow I'm going to have a buddy push down on it from the top while I pull from the bottom and see what we can do. If that doesn't work then I'll just do some filing and get everything set up for this weekend.

Make sure you don't push it on the radiator and it doesn't get stuck in this piece of rubber. I don't know what to say. Mine just slipped in. It was difficult to put in the bolts, connecting upper and lower parts, but upper part installation went smoothly. You do need to cut rubber piece per instructions, also I assume you checked that upper part actually goes through the opening in the rubber [before putting rubber screen back] . Definitely no need to push on it, you can damage the radiator.

Even though its too late in your case, i'll tell the rest of you how to save time and lots of cash. I'm sure you all know that the bottom of the air box can be cut out. But this leaves your filter exposed to alot of trash coming from under the car, not to mention the possibilty of water. To solve this go to a hardware store and buy a 4" by 12" (roughly) soffit vent for under a buck. Lay this over the opening, I did mine mesh side down and fins up. Drill a hole at each corner and secure with pop-rivets. This will open up the box and keep the filter a lot cleaner. It may not look as neat as the FTRA but it does the same thing at about 1% of the cost. Enjoy.

Well I got it all straightened out today. I had to elongate the radiator support hole, but that was it, the other holes actually were fine - dead center. Well I found something to help me get it done - I put the FTRA in and then put the airbox back on (loosely) because I found that the airbox actually pulls the radiator a little closer to the front. So after I did that, it fit nicely (except for the radiator support bracket hole).

LOL, I had the same problem today. We just made new holes where the wing nuts went to drop down the ram air plate further down. This way the larger holes met the radiator holes with no problem. It seems as if the wing nut holes are to far down. They need to be made further up to drop the ram air plate down further.
