Installed my Air/Fuel Guaged HELP!!!
Installed my Air/Fuel Guaged HELP!!! for some reason it seems like it is not working right. he jumps back and forth very rapidly and when it is at a idle it goes dead into the lean side and sometimes the lights do not show up. what could the problem be. i dont know what to do. any help is needed. it seems to jump from side to side way to quick in my opinion.

Re: Installed my Air/Fuel Guaged HELP!!! Thats normal operation during low throttle positions. The computer is trying to keep it as close to 14.7/1 as possible for the best emissions. At wide open throttle it should settle down somewhere close to the rich side.

Re: Installed my Air/Fuel Guaged HELP!!! This is very normal when hooking it up to a oxygen sensor as the oxygen sensor is taking readings and making changes very rapidly. The only time you should be looking at your a/f gauge for an accurate reading is at wot. It should be very stable when at wot and that is where it is important anyway.
Re: Installed my Air/Fuel Guaged HELP!!! When the A/F gauge bounces back and forth between rich and lean during cruise, the PCM is in "closed loop" mode. Meaning it is constantly taking readings from the O2 sensors and making adjustments to the A/F ratio trying to meet the 14.7:1 ratio. The large bounces on the gauge are actually very small adjustments made by the PCM. The adjustments happen many times per second.
During WOT, the PCM will ignore the O2 sensors and inject fuel based on a "fuel map" which was programmed into the PCM. During this "open loop" mode, you can use your A/F gauge to determine if your PCM is adding too much or too little fuel and make adjustments to your MAFT to compensate.
