its functional but, in my opinion its sucks. the duct does a full 360 before it goes to the box. when i get another hood its gonna be something with straight through design for the air.

Not really. The airbox is the same as on a non-ss car.

If you mean, does the air actually go anywhere once it enters the scoop, then yes. It goes to the back of the hood, then two ducts take it back to the front of the hood, where it exits before the air box. Not the best design by far.

Ram Air IMO is worthless.
Its worth more as an option, and the cool hoods look nice

But as far as performance goes, a nice CAI is the same thing.

It's not a sealed airbox like the Mach 1's, therefore it is not functional ram air.

Psh an SS ram air hood gave me 30hp yo. I'm sure the ultra Z hood does more than an SS hood.

Sarcasm, hence the . Mine is an SS, but I think the hood is more for appearance than anything else. Altho maybe when you are doing 140 it might make a little difference. But then I would think there is more drag. Who knows

I think of eithet the WS6 or the SS as a cold air induction. Not a "ram air"

it depends on if you want a hood for looks or function. i do hvac and ductwork for a living but, it doesnt take a scientist to figure out that the Ultra-z or something similar to the straight through air design would be best for function. i even belive you would get a greater function from a cowl hood. if i have some critics on my opinion, i'll explain.

How can it be a cold air for an SS if the ducting goes right over a nice hot engine. I would think that it would heat it up. Maybe the reason my IAT are around 150* and I have detonation problems. My car is black so maybe the air is getting heated from both sides of the hood.....

Take the hood off and get a leaf blower and blow it into the scoop and see how much force actually ends up through the routing... I'm guessing there are 2 channels inside of the hood and they wrap around? I have no clue I have a TRUE ram air hood... (basic bird hood... will post pics later)

yes,on the ss hood the air duct splits two separated ways and does a full 360 before it goes inside to the box;or engine, whatever you wanna call it.
