If I did my exhaust over again (and I just might in the future), I'd go with a Loudmouth. I ran with an open cutout for a long time, but after putting in the cam and swapping in the ORP's, it was just too obnoxiously loud in the car, all the time.

I ended up buying a borla so I could adjust the sound level to suit me... and where did the setting end up you ask? Wide open of course.

The borla sounds and looks great... but not sure if it was worth the extra cash and weight. (The ability to quieten it up is kinda nice... though I've still never had it blocked completely off )

IF (and only if) I could find a way to do true duals and have good ground clearance (car is lowered) and have the tailpipes exit out the back without hitting anything, I would go that route.

The nightmare has begun.I've had the SLP LM on my car for one week now.Yesterday it started sounding like a piece of aluminum foil flapping inside my exhaust between 1200-1800 rpms.I'm pissed, this is becoming a love/hate relationship in regards to the LS1 exhaust.

Am i hearing the garbage can noise that is associated w/LM.If i leave it on i won't have to buy fireworks on the 4th of July.It honestly sounds like there is something loose in there,is this normal? I'm already thinking about the Dynomax Bullet.

IMO, the Loudmouth is the best sounding cat back there is on the market. Its not at all "too loud." At WOT it sounds GREAT, but around town cruising its not loud, and at lower rpms its not annoying by any means. Loudmouth+cats+mainfolds= not raspy at all. I couldn't even imagine someone saying the loudmouth with stock everything else is too loud or annoying. If you plan on headers I'd suggest a different exhaust set up though, I went with longtubes and it was raspy 5% of the time, I actually loved how loud it was other than that 5%. I now have X-pipe with true duals, and THAT my friend is loud, and yes it has ALOT of interior resonance. But ohhhhh does it sound mean. Loudmouth gets my vote for best sounding/flowing catback with cats, and stock mainfolds.

Fast Eddie, sounds to me like you don't have your exhaust tightened up, or a clamp/bracket is loose.

McGuire,
That is exactly what it sounds like.I had a friend weld it for me, everything looks great.I've been under the car trying to duplicate the noise by banging on it,it's solid as heck.I'm going to have some buddies look at it tonight after work and see what they think.I'm baffled(no pun intended).

You might look at the classifieds and see how many loudmouth exhausts are for sale.

I have heard one of these things. All I can say is holy $hit is it loud. You could hear the car for 1/4 mile away.

If you have a wife...forget it...unless she is a saint. If your car is a daily driver...forget it...unless you are or want to be deaf. If you are over 25 years old...forget it...you've already out grown it.

I'm an old guy...it's just too damn loud for a daily driven street car. Try an adjustable Borla or my favorite the SLP 2OTL.

If you really want a loudmouth, pick up a used one that way when you get sick of it you won't be out so much money.

In response to fast eddy's complaint.
I for one had the LM on my car for about a year before i got me new one, and i never noticed a sound like the one you are describing. it is possible some punk put something in the system itself, or something might have went wrong or got in there durin the installation. The installation is most likely. If you did it yourself you should take time one weekend to jack the car back up and take off the exhuast and look through the pieces and make sure there really isnt anything in there. Cuz the LM is really a great system for fbodies, and i havent heard of that kinf od noise before.

BlackDeathT/A,
To make matters worse,it's not doing it all the time.I'm going to get on it real good this weekend and see if i can blow whatever is in there OUT.Maybe some packing material ended up in there or something.I hope the stock cats are not the problem.

I love the sound of the Loudmouth and get alot of compliments from it. I think its low. LOL I'm 27, I use it for a daily driver and I'm married!! LOL Wife just shakes her head when I floor it. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like with FLPs, Stage 3 heads, and a 382 package with aggressive cam. OOOohhh
