Value of "H" exhaust cross-over?

Value of "H" exhaust cross-over? How much value in performance and noise reduction is there in installing an "H" pipe or cross-over pipe between dual exhaust pipes? I have 2.5" dual tubing going back to an Edelbrock 5512 (2 X 2.5" in, 2 X 2.5" out) muffler. I'm not running cats. I'm thinking of installing an "H" pipe or cross-over between the duals close to the engine but past the O2 sensors. Is there any significant value in doing this? Thanks in advance for your help!
Re: Value of "H" exhaust cross-over? EVERY dual exhaust setup should have some kind of balance pipe, whether it is an H or an X. You may not make more peak hp, bu the area under the curve will be greater. I have seen a gain of as much as 25 rwhp at 5000 rpms (on an LS1) from an X-pipe.

with an ideal balance tube each exhaust pulse gets
twice the cross-sectional area to escape. That
leaves aside the issues of resonant scavenging
in engines with uneven intra-bank firing order,
which the balance tube also really helps with.
The X-pipe is a more flow-friendly update of
the venerable H-pipe, it imposes no right-
angle turns when properly constructed.
