Help. I need 20hp. What else could I add?
I could use a little help on deciding what I need to do to get 350@ wheels. My mods are in my sig.
My timing was about 21'-22' on average. At it's highest it was only 25 and as low as 19.
The only thing I can think of is:
Power Pullies.
More Timing.
What else is there??
I guess you could go with a light weight fly wheel and a carbon fiber drive shaft but I doubt that would boost your hp up very much.(not really sure at all on #'s).
Thanks.
Any other ideas??????????
Edit: sorry didnt see you already had a ported TB

-Dyno tuning with a wideband O2 sensor
-What size Y-pipe are you running? And it goes into what? I would run a 3 into 4" into a 4" I-pipe back to a 4" cuttout.
-Cuttout
-Timing advance, you'll be better off with about 27-28 degrees of it. Get rid of ALL knock retard. Use a 4.7k ohm resistor in the IAT sensor harness. Use a 160 degree thermostat with appropriate fan settings. Kill your cats! Cats are one of the leading causes of pinging. If all else fails and you still have false KR you can use a KO box made by NineBall.
-Fernco coupler mod (tube between the MAF and TB) or SLP coupler.
-Ensure that your ported TB is opening %100 when your foot hits the floor (takes two people to truly test.) Knife edge the blade and epoxy mod the IAC and PCV holes (MTI doesn't do these things.)
-Port and decreen your MAF. Correct the mixture back with your MAFT.
-Index the plugs. It's a PITA but it's worth a couple of ponies.
-Short belt mod. This bypasses the AC and power steering.
-Underdrive crankshaft and alternator pullys.
-Redline synthetics from the rearend to the engine.
That should get you started!

Why do you think a cuttout wouldn't help? You're running a splitflow muffler (which I'm not familiar with) so unless it is of a bullet type design I can assure you that you will gain from a cuttout.
Got any pics or know where I can see the NX MAF system?

LOL! No, I was just curious to if that MAF might be somewhat of a restriction. If I ever spray the '00 Z again it'll be with a direct port and will be in the pursuit of 7s.

The NX MAF actually has better flow caharachteristics that a factory MAF ends. They are much narrower and smoother....by a long shot.

Hey Steve get pullies, port the NX MAF a little, buy in on Ryan's LS1 edit!
Have you done the WOT mod yet?
More timing, on Edit mine showed 27 at the high RPMs.

True, you could suck something into the engine that could damage it. To minimize this damage you can do the 'ole pantyhose mod on the lid or you can simply "de-filter" a stock paper filter leaving the screen in place. You'll have the flow of no filter at all while limiting the size of particles to what would be fairly safe to run at the track. Sure, dust and very small bugs could still enter but if it's worth a tenth in the 1/4 then the small risk of a slightly shorter lived engine may be worth it to you.
Strange things can happen on dynos or at the track but I can tell you that I consistantly pick up a mph or two (depending on which car I'm running) without the filter in place. It may compliment the !filter mod in the fact that I'm running a FTRA.
