Removing Smog Pump, Air pump, Vacuum Pump???

Removing Smog Pump, Air pump, Vacuum Pump??? Whatever it is called. I have removed all the EGR crap with my new LS6 intake and LS1 edit. I have removed all of the air tubes also. I have all the block off plates for the headers in place now.
I noticed that when I removed the air tubes they connected to some kind of pump. Kinda looks like the alternator. I was wondering if I could go ahead and remove it since I have removed all of the egr crap. There is one small tube sticking out of the top of it wide open. Will that cause any problems leaving it wide open?

Is there anything specific I should know before removing it? Will it cause any problems? Will I set of any codes or anything like that?
I have had the EGR crap deleted out of the computer, so Ifugured I might as well remove it and save a little weight.
Should I remove it or leave it alone?

Re: Removing Smog Pump, Air pump, Vacuum Pump??? Sorry the link works on my post at LS1.com. I don't know why it does not work over here. The pump is right under the fuse boxes on the drivers side. The pump is on the drivers side. It is down low on the bottom of the engine.

I'd planned on capping the A.I.R. connectors on the headers and removing the A.I.R. pump, since I won't have any cats, anyway.
I do not have LS1Edit; does this mean that I'm going to throw a bunch of codes if I remove the pump? If so, what will the impact of these codes be? Will they retard the spark or have any other negative effects on performance?

Re: Removing Smog Pump, Air pump, Vacuum Pump??? That's the pump that pumps air into your cats, and is part of the AIR system. I removed it and silicone taped the electrical connector. You have to drop a little panel under the driver's side headlight to get it out. You'll probably throw a bunch of codes, some people don't for some reason, but Edit will take care of that.
