Need a good "Old Man" exhaust......
Need a good "Old Man" exhaust...... Well, old woman exhaust, to be exact. My mom (Yes, my mom <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ) bought a 2002 Z28 convertible, A4, Sebring Silver, loaded, etc. While we were test driving it, she said she wanted a louder exhaust after riding in my fiancees' car. The car will presumeably stay mostly stock. What is a good, mellow, not-too-loud catback to run with stock cats and manifolds? Most importantly, it can have NO RASP.

Re: Need a good "Old Man" exhaust...... If your just after sound and no performance then poss the flowmaster's. they are the cheapest with not much flow over the stock setup. Check through the sponsor adds and look for the muffler setups. They will keep you away from the 'rasp'.
Re: Need a good "Old Man" exhaust...... get someones dual-dual they took off their car - great flow, low noise. funny how they go to the shitty LM exhaust and dump a nice expensive unit? pick one up for 300 all day on these boards.

Re: Need a good "Old Man" exhaust...... If the car is gonna stay stock, I'm presuming your mom doesn't really care about added performance. If that is the case, don't waste $500+ on a aftermarket cat-back.
Just go with a cheap stainless steel Magnaflow replacement muffler. It will sound better while still being quiet. A Flowmaster 80 series muffler would sound good too(but louder with DRONE and is alumized steel).
If she has to have a cat-back, get the cheap $280 Hooker exhaust to do the trick.

I am 56 years old and wanted a different exhaust so i really researched all this out really good and this is what i found. There were 2 systems it came down to -- the SLP 2OTL -- and the SLP Dual/Dual. Last week i bought the SLP 2 on the left exhaust and put it on the day it arrived and really love it . Crusing down the highway at 70 -- 80 --mphit is just a little louder than stock -- no problem talking or listing to the radio. As far as the rest at idle it is a little louder than stock and going through the gears it sounds really good which is what i wanted -- something louder than stock but still quite going down the highway. She will like this one. Dave S.

Re: Need a good "Old Man" exhaust...... I personally think any exhaust will have some rasp i mean i have even heard the stock one give off some rasp. She might would like the slp dual dual, for the corsa, or even a borla with the block off plate installed.
