Default almost got it off

well guys ive been going at it through the afternoon, i have slmost all my exhaust off and have some sore *** cut up hands because GM uses knives for heat shields.

i only have to get the back bolt on the passenger side, and i cant get to the back bolt on the fuel rail, and it doesnt seem like i can even see it from underneath, i can get a wrench on it but i cant get any leverage to turn it.

all the bolts from the exhaust to the y-pipe broke, which made it very easy. and the driver side manifold is out, and the oil dipstick came out very easy, i just got to get this last damn bolt out.

im taking a break, counting my cuts, and drinking some kool aid before i go back at it

By the fuel rail??? What kind of manifolds do you have?
It takes some will power and a small wrench/socket combo.

if youre on the last bolt then just get it a 1/4 turn loose and lift up on the front of the manifold and it should pick up, bungee strap it to the hood and get the bolt from the bottom..... 10mm gear wrench is your friend

well im not old enough to buy beer, so kool aid it is.

i guess ill pick up on the front of the manifold, that sounds like a good idea.

i was going to take the fuel rail off so i could get at it from the top but i cant get the back bolt on the fuel rail off because there is a hose in the way.

Its easiest to get at everything on #8 from the bottom be it a spark plug, wire or in your case a header bolt.

ok i got it, i coldnt get any leverage to pull it from underneath because i could only get 2 fingers on it, so i grabbed about 3 feet of wire and put it over the wrench so each end of the wire would hang down, and i pulled on that bitch, repeated that a couple times untill it was a little bit loose, than got it from the top with a 1/4 in drive wratchet.

so all the exhaust is off and the plugs are out, i assume i put the new headers on before i put the new plugs on so i have a little bit more room.

I was able to leave my plugs in still, I had plenty of room to work around them. Just got to be pretty careful though...I guess they could break off.

AHHHHH, reminds me of the days before I bought an air compressor. Good luck with the rest of the install. You'll need to disconect your steering linkage, and then remove the transmission mount while supporting it with a jack and pushing the whole engine/trans combo towards the passenger side of the car. That will make the driver side header go in real easy.

we have the valve cover off and are trying to go in from the top, but the damn kinkage is in the way.

those 2 bolts are the only thing that hold in the linkage, Right? i can get the top one out but that bottom one is a bitch

i gave up on the top idea, so i think im taking off the oil diveter and filter (guess i doing an oil change too while im at it)

hopefully i wont have to take the linkage off, i know the car is high enough.

i thought the passenger one was going to be hard because it looks so tight, but it ended up being easy as hell.

ill be going at it again tomorrow

Sometimes you almost have to point the driver side collector straight at the ground to get it in. I removed his filter and diverter, but I don't think it was necessary now.

I had my car jacked up as high as it would go, but still couldnt get my buddies Kooks header in, it just needed a liiiiiiitle bit more. This is when we started brainstorming.....

ya, we got that damn thing high in the air, it just seems like there isnt enough room for them to squeeze in there.
