Anyone know why the EGR is suppose to be for better mileage but the newer Z's dont have it? That confuses me...

the idea was originally put on the boards by me
the guy who told me that it helped gas mileage was going by the fact that burt exhaust will fill up space in the cylinder, therefore saving gas by making the engine require less gas.
i just found out that wasn't true. the main thing egr does is take up space in the cylinder not enough to help gas mileage but enough to help keep the engine cool. the idea behind that is if its already burt then it can't produce more heat. thats why it doesn't operate at idle. and it doesn't work at full throttle because it would hurt power at full throttle by taking up needed space. so egr has little to no effect on mpg.
