Default How hard to install a cat back?

I did the lid on my own, and I know that's incredicbly easy - however, how about installing a vat back? A magnaflow in particular. . .

Any comments are welcome

Well I was able to do it so anyone can do it.

Just need to get the back on to some ramps and you will have enough room...well I did atleast.

You also need a swazall to cut the stock catback off, that was no big deal either for me. Then its just a wrestling match basically - once its all on you can then clamp it up, straighten the tips out and your done.

It's not bad at all. Exactly what Lithium said. Just make sure to remain patient. The work is worth the reward.

Installing a factory one is cake. Fabbing one up from scratch usually requires a dozen or so tries.

I also would make sure to get the muffler assembly off of the y pipe first, that way you have more leverage to twist it off if it is stuck. once freed from the y, bring out the sawzall and cut away, this way if you can not get the old one off the y, you won't have a cut off till you get it heated off.

I would think jacking your car up would be the hardest thing.

Ive done 2 now. Matter of fact just did one ealier today. It doesnt take more than 40 minutes to do. As long as you have a sawzall and a few hand tools it is incredibly easy.

I've taken ***** that take longer than a catback install.

I did my Magnaflow many moons ago in one hour, start to finish, taking my time and drinking a beer when I was done.

Like everyone has said... Hand Tools and a Sawsall.

I just installed a magnaflow catback on my car today with the help of a couple friends. I was fortunate enough to have access to a lift, which made the install much easier. You can do it without one though. I used a sawzall to cut the old exhaust which made it a lot easier to remove. This is just my experience though. Good luck!

BTW, the exhaust sounds great, I recommend magnaflow if you are looking for a low, non-raspy, tone.

Quick Q. for all of you guys.

Do you have to cut anything on the slp's Dual/Dual in order to get it off? It looks like you wouldn't need to cut anything to me.

Thanks!

Rick M.
