Default Water Pump Life Expectancy?

What's the average amount of miles before a LS1 water pump is prone to failure?

If its not leaking its not broke. when it leaks on to your crank pulley replace it.

Mine had 120k on it before I replaced it, and it was still working just fine, I was trying to track down a cooling issue and it wasnt it.

I just replaced my gaskets on mine at 73,000, and the pump itself looks fine. No cooling issues or anything, apparently some robot at the factory installed my gasket wrong. :shrugs:

I don't see any reason to replace it until you start having problems, so I wouldn't worry about it.

73K miles on mine, original owner with no issues. I did however buy a spare alternator, seems 5 yrs is about the life out of them but funny it hasn't died yet and it's been 5.5 yrs.

I am having sort of the same problem as you with the leak but I don't see the so called weeping hole and looked like the additive that I added to the coolant reservoir when I flushed the radiator. It seemed to be where it mounts to the block but I don't know now since I can't see it leaking anymore even with an inspection mirror. So my big question to you is, did you ever figure out where your leak was? Thanks.

Holy thread revival, back from the DEAD!!!! HAHA, But now that its back. I just replaced my pump yesterday with a new one from autozone. Not sure if it was the original pump but I'm at 166k so I highly doubt that its original.

Weep hole is behind the pulley. I replaced the gaskets on my old pump only to find out it still leaks. Save yourself the headache and just buy a new pump.
