Default Ram Air/weatherstripping Block Off

For those of you that have ram air; Do you belive that using the weatherstripping to block off the air in front of the airbox really helps tp pressurize the lid for more hp? Or do you belive that leaving it open allowing more air would benifit more?

I have put it on and taken it off...no difference.

They say to leave it on, but I just say the more air the better (ss hood) - so I keep it off.

Ok, a few hours after I posted this I put the block off in;I could be wrong and it could be in the weather or whatever but,I swear the cars response on the highway was a little better. Seemed like it actually had more power.
I actually thought the same thing you did; more open surface area equals more air. But i'm not sure right now. There may be something to the velocity or the lid being pressurized or something.
One day when i finally go to a track i'm gonna do some tests to get a real answer
