before I got it to quit banging. I had to
beat my crossbrace severely, dimple in a
strategic spot on the Y, and carefully
shim the Y and I pipes before finally
tightening down the Y pipe clamps. There're
some posts from me on this, several months
back, with links to some pics.
Sedans ought to have it easier than 'verts.

Re: does slp y-pipe bang I installed mine about a month ago. It fit perfectly. The only thing I had to do was shim the tunnel brace a little. No banging at all. You can hear a little more in the car, but that's not all bad.

Re: does slp y-pipe bang Mine bangs like you read about. I refuse to beat on the car or the y pipe so I'm just about to put in a torque strap of sorts. I bought a turn buckle and found a 10mm bolt hole on the block (in back of rear motor mount bolt), I plan on running it from there down to the K member. I'm going to cinch things down a bit and see what happens - I'll post when I get it complete.

I don't know about the SLP Y for long tube headers.
However, I do have the SLP Y pipe for the shorty headers/stock manifolds. It doesn't bang at all.
