Default Dynomouth Gains

hey, guys, it's my first time posting here, I heard about ya from www.fbody.com (i'm pewter99ta over there). Anyway, i came here for Dynomouth info. I was wondering how much power was gained from converting from a stock setup to it, and how well it flows. How loud is it? I've looked at a couple clips, and the it sounds nice, but it seems quieter than most others for some reason. (Louder is better for me...) i was also wondring if it would be better to use mandrel 3 inch pipe all the way back with the bullet. Thanks in advance.

Jon as for the dyno #s it really depends on your mods.I had 3" all mandrel with an xpipe turned down in front of the axle with 12" bullet's.At idle it wasn't to loud but at wot it sound's like a beast. This is a really good flowing exhaust.

A lid with a paper filter and a Dynomouth gave my 98 Z 318 rwhp & 334 rwtq. This from a year that dynos around 280 rwhp stock. Just my guess, but I would venture to say 40% of the gain came from the lid and the other 60% from the exhaust. The bullet muffler flows far more than any other Fbody muffler except the LM resonator which is about the same.
A 3" pipe is not needed. The stock pipes are 2.75" mandrel bent stainless. Why fix it if it ain't broke. The stock muffler is the only thing that sucks.
Good luck
Dave

My '02 WS6, with Dynomouth and lid dyno'd at 335rwhp/353rwtq!
I also took a test drive one night when I put my filter in... I had a few friends over, and they heard me the whole 1.5 mile trip, as they stood on my porch! My buddy also told me that he heard my car over his, and he has Hooker LT's, ORP, and FM catback! I can't say it's a really quiet exhaust!

DinoZ: Great numbers! It's amazing what the 02s get with just these little mods.

i had always thought the Z28 and Regular Trans Am exhaust was 2.5 and that the SS and WS6 was 2.75. I was looking at your install pics an was wondering if that was brand new piping from the new y-pipe on back. How much, everything said and done, did this mod cost YOU?

The SS was available with a 3" SLP optional exhaust for some extra bux on top of the already high SS package price. Sounds funny talking about the Fbody in past tense doesn't it?
The only thing the WS6 had going for it was a slightly less restrictive muffler.
My Dynomouth mod was $140 total. This was about $40 for the muffler (DynoMax 24222) and $100 for professional installation. The muffler shop only put a Y in place of my orginal muffler, tying the dual tailpipes together. The rest of MY exhaust is totally stock... cats, I-pipe, and all.
Well, I did replace the stock tips eventually...
Dave

FWIW: The link to install pics on my site is not my car. It belongs to a man named Justin on LS1.com... I used the link with permission to get as much info in one place as possible. The same goes for the sound clips... not mine. I have a clip but it is not very good quality.

I am planning on getting some pics of my Dynomouth soon... when I do, I will post them!
