Default Stock exhaust question

I have a 2000 SS. It is bone stock and I am contemplating getting the Loudmouth exhaust because the stock exhaust sounds like a sissy. Although I looked at my current exhaust and it is rather large pipe. Does any know what size pipe the SS came with? It is much larger than my girlfriends 2001 Z28. With that in mind should I forget the Loudmouth and just get a better muffler and keep the stock pipe, or quit being a puss and get the Loudmouth? If a new muffler is the choice, what is a good, loud replacement. Thanks

The SS was equipped standard with the same 2.75" I-pipe that the Z-28 came with. However, for extra $$$ it could be had with an optional SLP exhaust called "dual dual". This exhaust has a 3" I-pipe. The D/D also has a somewhat better muffler and larger tailpipes. From what It is called D/D because it has 2 exhuast tips on each side of the car instead of just 1 on each side. With either system, just replacing the muffler will free up alot of power... assuming you get a truly good flowing muffler. There is not that much difference between the 2.75" and 3" pipe performance wise. If you happen to have the D/D, then DEFINATELY do not waste your money on a complete system. If you have a standard system, it still isn't worth changing the whole thing IMHO.
Good luck
Dave

Get the Loudmouth or the dynomouth. The dynomouth is very reasonable money wise.
Use the search function, there are many discussions about the LS1 exhaust system.

I measured my pipes last night, they are defineatly 3" pipes. I also measured my girlfriends and hers were 2.5" to 2.75". So you think I should defineatly keep this setup with the dymomouth, eh!!!

Dynomouth will save you alot of money that you will unneccesarily waste on a full system! Not to mention sound bad azz!

I went home and checked the door jam and there is a sticker there that states, "Modified by SLP Engineering". Is there any way to find out what SLP did to it... Thanks
