thread lock or anti-seize on header bolts?
I assume thread-lock goes on the cylinder head bolts, and all other bolts (y-pipe, cat-back, etc.) and spark plugs get anti-seize.
There seems to be alot of confusion on this point, so help me out guys!
Is everyone fabricating their own restricter AIR plates using a 3/16 inch drill bit?
loosening. Others complain about busting
manifold bolts off. I would say, anti-
sieze and a mechanical retention scheme
(safety wire or clip-locks) gives the
best of both worlds.
I did make my own AIR restrictor plates, used either a 1/8" or 3/16", was somewhere around there.
I definately recommend using antisize on anything that comes in contact with the heat of the headers. I alsways take a little bit of antiseize and put it down in the groove of the v-band clamps for the ORP/Cat pipes... it makes it MUCH easier to get the clamps off whenever you need to. I installed my set relatively quickly and didn't pull off the coil packs or spark plugs. Having worked on my car more since then, I would definately pull the coil packs off, it makes it much easier.
