Was considering this to be one of my next modifications. I have heard several people say they don't fit well, the oil plug want come out, and that they damage oil filters. Is any of this true. I looked at SLP's setup, but i cannot afford the ground clearance issues. I guess if these LT's have problems too then i'll just get some MAC midlengths????????????????????

The drivers side does run a little close to the oil filter and drain plug. To be honest, yes this annoyed me considering how expensove the headers are. But the ouil fiter issue is BS. I have noticed no increase in engine temperature and the oil filters look just fine when I pull them out. The drain plug for me was a legitimate issue. You can get a shorter bolt to work around the problem, but personally I like the magnite on the stock bolt and want to keep it. I use a pry bar and only have to apply a little pressure to get the bolt out. It's a hassle, yes, but not all that bad.

The build quality of these headers are the best I have seen. Great headers.

I have had NO problems with the oil filter being burnt etc... However, the oil drain plug was very tight so I put in a shorter plug with a magnetic tip, it was like $5.00

Get the FLPs you'll love 'em

I just got these installed this week (my post)

Fit and finish are perfect. Glad I went with these headers as it is a complete package. And the guys at FLP are great to work with.

I have yet to drain the oil. If the plug is an issue I will just get a shorter one, like mentioned above.

No oil plug or filter problems here The headers do fit tight against the floor(which is good)I had to clearence the driver side pipe so it wouldn't hit the floor. No biggie. My FLP's are actually higher off the ground than the stock exhaust which is great on my lowered car.

The only suggestions I have are to install them from the bottom and pull the coil packs off.

When I did my header install (first time really working on car), I didn't pull ANYTHING off that I didn't have to. I did the install with the coil packs still in place and it was a PITA getting to some of the bolts. Once everything was out of the way, the headers literally fell into place.

Now the first thing I do when I even think i'm going to work on my car is pull off the coil packs. (I left the back 2 coil pack bolts on each side off and the AIR pump bracket is pushed back out of the way)

I love the FLPs. I don't notice the oil filter issue. The header doesn't look any closer to my filter than the stock catalytic was. I did have the problem with my oil plug and with the header banging the floor board though. Both quick fixes and of minimal concern to me. Ground clearance is better on my car now than the stock y-pipe was. I've been 100% pleased with mine in the last year.

No probs with clearance on the drain plug or fitler with mine, actual clearance is even more than appears in the angle of these pics. Fit and finish was excellent as well!

I got mine just before they corrected some of the issues. I had terrible banging (not that hard to fix) and my drain plug is a little tough to get out. Like everyone else said, a pry bar and a little pressure and it comes right out. Finished product is excellent. I hear most of these issues are resolved now.

I bought my FLP's about 2 months ago, and have just about every known problem. There is about .5" between the collector and drain plug, 1/8" between the steering shaft and tube, they bang the floor even after the floor was tweaked about .5". They also sent me '98-'99 style headers, but swapped the drivers side out at their expense. While minor, the replacement is much more dull than the passneger header. They make good power and sound good though. I wish I had went with different headers though It is my opinion that they are overpriced for what you get.

No probs with mine either

Clearance will be a problem if you have LOW springs, like Sportlines and/or stereo system weight.

But I have had no issues with drainplug problems etc..

Did you guys use the gaskets it came with, or did you buy new GM exhaust gaskets?
