Default TB Bypass

I know that there are alot of opinions about the TB Bypass mod, but I decided to go ahead and do it. One thing though, I just got through driving about 60 miles in 58 degree weather. So I get out and pop the hood a put my hand on the TB and it is actually cold to the touch. I know I probably waited for the wrong time of year to decide to check how hot my TB gets with coolant running through it. Common sense tells me that the TB is cool from driving 70 mph. for a while in 58 degree weather. Has anyone ever tested their TB with or without coolant running through in hot climates?(Had the car for 6 months in 100 + weather and just now deciding to do this)What was the results. I also was woundering if I can just use the stock clamps and connect the two coolant lines together with some steel tubing. What size and type tubbing will I need to do this. Thanks for any help.

The cheapest route would be to buy one length of the same diameter coolant line, and use the factory clips. I had the Bmr kit, but didn't like how it came into contact with the serpentine belt occasionally. Used the tubing and used a plastci tie to keep in away from the belt. Couple bucks total.

On my '02, the two sides of the TB have
different size coolant fittings. 1/4
on one side, 5/16 on the other. 5/16
fuel line hose was too loose for the
little side.

I ended up using a piece of 5/16 SS
tubing that was laying around the shed,
already L-shaped. The 1/4" stock hose
took some argument but the hose from
the radiator went on just right. Reused
the factory clamps.

This was all in the course of swapping
on my home-ported TB, the clearance under
there was tight so I hacksawed off the
bottom "fin" to give a place for the SS
tubing to nest. Tucked up pretty neat.

If you used worm screw clamps you could
probably use 5/16 hose the whole way.

Jimmyblue,
Would 1/4 hose work for a full lenght hose? Might be a little tough to get on the 5/16ths side, but better than being too big.

Getting the 1/4" over the plastic nipple
on the radiator end tank is going to be
tough, especially if you use a reinforced
hose. Don't like forcing it on expensive
plastic. You can compress oversized hose
with a good hose clamp (at least, 1/16"
worth).
