how do you get the spark plug and wire for the #8 cylinder out
i got taylor 409 wires and tr55's and put them in all the cyliders but the one on the passenger side against the firewall. how do you replace the plug and wires on that cylinder? it looks like i would have to take the ac unit out to get to it, is there some other way to do it?

Probably gonna have to crawl up under it. I can reach mine from the top but my AC canister was moved for my SC install.

Get a swivel head ratchet and go from underneath.
Put the socket on first, then snap the ratchet on.
It's a lot easier and cheaper than pulling a/c.

dude i have a 99z28 and im telling you there is no way in hell of getting it out from the bottom. what i did was just remove the first two coil packs and pay attention here this is were it gets tricky. went and got my girlfriend and told her to get her little *** hands in there with just a ratchet and the sparkplug and she got it off in about 5 minutes. i had been working on it for about 2 hours. trust me its alot easier with someone who has little hands. screw all that taking off the ac crap.
oh well good luck let us know how it goes.

Re: how do you get the spark plug and wire for the #8 cylinder out
I have done it twice and both times from the top.I put the spark plug socket over the plug and then I get the socket that fits over the spark plug socket the reason for that being that an extention is to long then you just put the ratchet on it and take it off.I have a low option car and no speed control.I am not sure if that makes it any easier.Good luck

Have no experience w/a 99 but it's easy to get from the bottom on my '00.
Here's a tip on re-installing plugs: get some fuel line rubber hose and push it over the tip of the plug; this will give you a flexible "shaft" to twist when trying to get the plug started, plus will keep you from dropping a plug on the frame and annoying your neighbors with a multitude of cuss words in combinations they've never heard before.

I have done it from the top and bottom, you just gotta take your time, from the top remove the whole coil pack rail.

Do it from the bottom.1" ext.The easiest way to get the boot off is also from the bottom with a small prybar.Place the bar between the head and boot and twist,it'll pop right off.

Re: how do you get the spark plug and wire for the #8 cylinder out
I know I was scared the first time, after all the horror stories I had heard. Fortunately, I had also helped someone with theirs before. I did #8 first so the rest would be a dream and #8 only took me 15 minutes from the top , coil packs removed, and I used both a Swivel Joint, and a open end wrnch on the socket! Do be scurred, just get in there and do it from the top. I have AC, TCS, and CC, and it was no problemo!

I spent an hour on that bastard my self then my friend "the mechanic" came along with a stubby handled wobble head (the kind where the shaft is rounded allowing the socket to wobble in all directions) and a regular spark plug socket and in five minutes he was done!!!!!! P.S. He left the coil packs on just to show off. Amazing what he can do with a $40,000 Snap-On tool set!!!
