Default dual cut outs off headers

I have heard mixed feelings about if this can actually hurt performance or quite possibly hurt something internal. I got a 99 trans am 'ls1" Its loud for one and sounds pretty good IMO, whats everyones thoughts?? thanx in advance

Yeah cutouts right after the headers will corrupt the O2 sensor reading, you need at least 18inches of pipe after the O2 sensor to get a perfect reading, it also cancels out the scavenging effect which is important.

i dont know from exp, but i've heard people say that it doesnt allow scavaging... and that it can burn up sensors cuz its so hott? i dunno tho. i wouldnt think u would run em open all the time... i'm sure someone who has em will chime in with some more useful info

No, the reason it burns them up is because of outside air/oxygen getting to them in conjunction with exhaust gases. But I would not run dual cut-outs unless you want to lose some serious bottom end.
