The best bang for the buc is probably Hooker longtubes (ceramic coated). The tuck up nicely underneath the floorboards and their power numbers are about the same as any of the longtube headers that are much more expensive.

FLP

They have a complete package which includes cats and off-road pipes that are interchangable.

There are less expensive headers out there but once you start to add up the cost of the cats, y-pipe and the ability to swap cats for off-road pipe the FLP set is usually less money.

To SR71BB: You say that the Hookers give the same power as the more expensive headers....well...once youve got the Hookers in there with all the other needed components, youll be spending more than the FLP's. The Hookers are about $700 (ceramic coated), then the matching y-pipe for it doesnt even come with a place to put the cats. For some that could be ok for, but the want to have the ability to run cats. If you have some muffler shop rig you up a custom y-pipe, and then buy seperate cats, that even more expensive. As for the FLP's, you have the option, not only that, the entire set up is fully ceramic coated. Yes, everythings tucks under there just fine. I would go with FLP's, I did and I love them. Better sound, more pull, and alot more attention!

I have the FLP'S and have had no problems. Try and find some that fit your budget. Personally I would go with the FLP'S if you can afford it. Best of all it's a COMPLETE package.

depends on who you get the hookers from, mine with a oryp were 790 at my door.....
That was jet hot coated and everything. I don't think buying two cats would take me anywhere near the 1300 for FLPs....
Though i am sure they have there perks for me, I would rather have a set of headers and an ls6 manifold for the same price as just headers.

Also if i had emmissions i might have a different song

Emission is definitely something to think about when deciding on which headers to purchase.

Hookers all the way!
Do a search on header problems on various different LS1 sites. You will find Hooker with the far fewest quality problems. You will also find the most expensive brand of headers have by far the most problems.
Good luck

Hookers don't run near that much and cats can be had for under $100 each. Someone tried to take you for a ride if they were wanting that much for Hookers. Then you went and paid $1300! LOL

They can be had from other sources for $399 uncoated and $548 coated.
Just FYI
Dave

Edit: Checked the prices to be more accurate.

SLP headers is what I ordered, I have been hearing about clearance issues but willing to sacrifice for quality.... I hope!

FLP's are not that much more in price when comparing same features:

Hooker Headers (coated) - $550
Coated y-pipe - $250
2 cats welded into y-pipe - $250
Off-road pipes coated - $50
6 sets of flanges to swapout
cats w/ off-road pipes - $150 (w/welding)

total - $1250

This is 2 cats at around $100 each, 2 sections of pipe coated to become off-road pipes and the flanges to allow swapping cats with off-road pipes (MTI has the flanges @ $75 per set so the $150 estimates is way low plus the flanges are not coated).

Just wanted to make sure we compare like systems.

Has anyone dyno'd their FLP setup with and without cats?
