Well said. You do get what you pay for in this world. Those are great results. Now I'm at the crossroads where I have to decide if I want heads/cam or a new rear first. Decisions, decisions...

Is this something Tony does on the side? I would think he is too busy to be doing this all the time.

I recently spoke with a shop (who's name I won't drag into this) who was slightly unhappy with his power results on a certain combination he was familiar with. He had a "ported FAST" from another vendor and I just mentioned in a conversation we had about his dyno results (which were mainly lacking in the TQ department) that he might want to swap on a stock FAST just to rule the manifold out of the equation....low and behold he picked up 15 RWTQ and 5 peak HP swapping to a stock unmodified unit. No matter what he was charged to have that intake ported, it was obviously money that wasn't very well spent (not to mention he's now stuck with an $800 plastic paperweight).

Bottom line is I have a lot of R&D, flowbench, and dyno time into the modifications that I make and the execution is time consuming because I pride myself on the neatness and accuracy of my work. To comment on it being overpriced without seeing one first hand is BS....speak to some of the people I helped and asked them how they felt about the money they spent after they received it.

Most of the guys that have used my intake have seen gains from 20-25 HP at the rear wheel and a nice increase in TQ early in the curve which is another big benefit....most stock FAST intake swaps show a loss at the very low RPM's and show most of their gains very high in the RPM curve.

What I do isn't for everyone....its for the guys looking for all the money from their combination and don't mind spending a little more to get it. The work is time consuming, definately not cheap, but I don't know of anyone I have helped that hasnt been totally satisfied with the end results.

Tony M.

PS....Joel, congrats on the results....especially the 20 ft/lb gain in TQ. I was happy we were able to clear your goals of 470+....big numbers considering the streetability of your combination.

I hope you didn't take any of these comments personally. We all know you do lots of research and sell top shelf products. Like you said, one of your ported intakes is for those wanting to eek every last hp out of there combo. My comment was referring to the $$ to hp ratio. For those of us that aren't rich $500 for 5-10 hp over a stock FAST is quite a stretch for the pocket book. At least you know it's done right when Tony does it....

If you want everything you can get out of your motor, you will pay whatever it takes. I have consulted Tony, and I am definitely going to be doing business with him and AFR over the summer to try and get 500rwhp out of my stock 116k bottom end. He knows his stuff, and can back it up with stellar results. Huge thumbs up to Tony and his service!

No problem at all....and I understand the money starts really adding up. We all know this hobby is a form of an addiction.

Consider this however....think about what you are actually spending for the first 12-15 HP (manifold and 90 mm ported TB) which I would view as the more typical gains seen from a stock FAST install. The benefits of the porting are really no worse on a HP per dollar basis....it just presents an option for someone wanting and willing to pay for more. Or the guy that just can't sleep at night knowing he left a little under the table (knowing how it will haunt him the first time he loses by a fender....LOL).

As they say, "Speed costs money....how fast do you want to spend?" (That phrase about sums it up....)

Thanks,
Tony

Ben's car is slow and Tony doesnt know anything

jk guys. If you think its a waste then save Tony the time and effort and just dont have him do it. I would rather spend that money for the extra 5-10 hp, hp isnt cheap when you start to squeeze every last bit out of a package.

Great results man, those are some awesome numbers.
