QTEC cutout vs Loudmouth

Default QTEC cutout vs Loudmouth

Bottom line: with the QTEC wide open, my 60-90 MPH times average .4 sec faster than with the QTEC closed and just the Loudmouth running. I have no particular reason for doing all my performance testing at 60-90 MPH other than it's easy and involves a gear change (A4).

Interestingly, at 75 MPH their is no noticeable noise difference in the cockpit from when the QTEC is opened or closed.

However, at 65 MPH the difference is, well, big.

i dont see how it can make a .4 diff...the LM is basically pipes...but there are many variables like the levelness of the road, wind resistance between runs, etc

With the QTEC closed, it is basic Loudmouth sound as the QTEC works as it should. With the QTEC wide open, you are running open pipes at the juncture of the Y-pipe, so there is virtually zero exhaust pressure moving out the factory exhausts.

Granted, the testing is not the most scientific but I run it over the same stretch of highway and average out the times from over 20 runs: if I work evenings I can get 4 or 5 runs on the way home. Actually, the difference is slightly more than .4 second.
