Question Exhaust Temperature question...

Might be a stupid noob question, but why would you want to know the exhaust temp? One other thing...I have a true-dual set-up with NO X or H pipe. Would I need 2 guages and 2 sensors or would 1 be sufficient?

It will tell you how the engine is running. Hotter egt's = leaner, cooler egt = richer. As far as 1 or 2 gauges I would go with 2 so you can compare 1357 side vs 2468 side of the engine.

If you'd like, you could join your pipes with a short equalizer tube, right up where the two pipes start to run parallel. That would cut your cost of EGT gauges in half, and free up more power from equalizing out the exhaust pulses. Check out post #13 in the link below... AWESOME sound, by the way.

EGT is also a way to monitor a turbo-charged car's efficiency.

Exactly. I wouldn't bother with an EGT gauge unless you're turboed.

Yeah, I don't really think an EGT is of much use on an N/A car. Turbos are a bit trickier to tune, so for them its a good parameter to be aware of.

i think an A/F gauge would be easier and cheaper to figure out lean/rich conditions

Don't you need wideband O2 sensors to get accurate readings from an A/F guage? And aren't the wide band sensore rather expensive?

I beleve you are corect. Also a A/F gauge is a nice light show.
