Default LT1 vs. LS1 headers

Anyone know if LT's on an LS1 exit in the same spot as LT's on an LT1? I'm selling the duals and someone with an LT1 is asking about them. I told him I'm pretty sure they won't fit right, but not 100%. Anyone know for sure?

No he's asking if they exit in the same spot, i.e. will a true-dual exhaust system for an LS1 car fit an LT1 car with headers.

I have no clue, but figured I'd help clear things up a bit.

That's a tough one. I owned a '95 Trans Am, and, when it was up on my lift, it looked like you could swap any parts between the two (NOT engine parts)....LCA's, cross-members, springs, panhard....except for the engine/tranny, most of the 4th Gen stuff LOOKED the same. I never measured any dimensional differences between the two, but a lot of the stuff LOOKS interchangeable.

Do you have access to a lift? Even if you can get 'er up on jack stands, you could crawl under with the collector, and eye-ball the collector positioning if you can "borrow" the part to see if it fits before you buy it.

About the only thing that'll screw you with the collector position, is any dimensional differences, especially width-wise, between the LT-1 & LS1. Interesting question...I'd be curious as to how much of a difference there is. Doesn't it look like the rear facia notches for the tailpipe exits are identical between 4th-Gen LT-1 and LS1 cars?

Might want to ask in the LT1 section. If it is possible, I'm sure one of those guys has done it.

Would you like me to move this thread there?
