Default The Powerstick muffler... pics!

just got my powerstick muffler in the mail today.... man this thing is sweet! its got a 3" core all the way thru and the louvers that stick out are smaller compared to the sweet thunders. this thing should flow. and its made out of super thick metal. just waitin for my tsp rumbler to come in so i can put it in the I-pipe. this is the 20" body length muffler by the way.

It's gonna sound basically like a straight pipe...

Hopefully it won't be as blatty and unrefined as straights are.

Let us know how it sounds. It should sound pretty good! More throaty and less raspy than a stock TSP rumbler or LM. I thought about doing this before I bought the GMMG. A muffler shop near my house sells a 3" bullet muffler that looks just like the powerstick inside. It looks like it might hurt flow pretty bad depending on which way you face it. What direction do you plan on having the fins face?

the fins are supposed to be positioned to where they suck up the exhaust flow cuase thats how it will help muffler it. it might hurt flow a little bit but not nearly as bad as the sweet thunders

That's what I figured. I wonder how it would sound with the fins facing the other way. I know it wouldn't work as well for sound supression, but might still give it a throaty sound. Do the powersticks have fiberglass packing under the fins? You should post a sound clip when you get it put on. I'd like to compare it to my GMMG.

yeah ill try to get a clip up when i get it all done. no its just hollow underneath the fins. its supposed to work somewhat like a flowmaster does with the chambers but not flow like a civic muffler lol like the flowmasters do.

that guy is me, and the sweet thunder is gone in place of a Hooker catback now

the ST sounded great at idle and screamed WOT but too glasspackish for me during normal driving... i don't think you'll get as much of that with the powerstick though.

How would the powerstick compare to a borlamouth or dynomouth setup?

I think you can use them either way round although they work better in the correct direction.

There's no padding and they flow great, better than a glass pack bullet muffler does. The GMMG mufflers aren't all that different in concept. These are deflection mufflers as opposed to aborbsion mufflers like glass packs.

I'd be interested to see some dyno's showing how the powerstick's effect flow. We already know the GMMG doesn't show much loss over a cutout. Other mufflers with the powerstick style fins in them, seem to choke the flow up quite a bit. I know the powerstick doesn't neck down like the others, but I'd still bet that with the fins facing exhuast flow there'd be quite a disturbance in flow.

2000 cfm seems like plenty to me... i dont think flipin the muffler around will gain me much more.

by the way richZ, what size powerstick do you have in your i-pipe and is that all that you are using as a muffler? thanks

I am using the Powerstick for my muffler. I had the exhaust from after over the axle cutoff. The the exhaust stop made a y pipe to keep the dual exhaust. I can't remember the size. Have to get back to you on that one. Once it was in there was only a few inches of room left.
