It's called the "liquid line". The freon inside is actually flowing from the condenser (in front of radiator) TO the evaporator (inside the car).
Where it unbolts on the firewall side has a cavity which houses the "orifice tube". It functions as a screen/fiter as well as an expansion valve like device.

I think that set includes that line, but it also has another, so it costs more. LS1 AC compressor and condenser hose assembly (98-02) (AC-Delco #15-31009) = 10409630

That line by itself is about $35. The set is about $50.
