Could you please explain the diffrence between AIR and EGR? I kinda thought they were the same thing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />

Re: 2001 Exhaust manifolds Question
EGR= Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Exhaust gases are pumped back into the intake through this system to become part of the intake charge.
The air pump/system is used to pump freash air into the exhaust system pre-cat so as to light the cats off faster by flooding them with extra oxygen while the motor is still cold on start-up. Some older cars have air tubes that pump the oxygen directly into the cat, but LS1s have these tubes integrated into the manifolds.
AIR and EGR are two different devices.

Re: 2001 Exhaust manifolds Question
Thanks, you guys saved me some money. I was gonna buy some 2001 manifolds thinking that they wouldnt have the air and egr provisions for a cleaner look. Not much point if the 2001 still have the air fittings.
