Default Guys with GMMG? Please Help!

My 2001 WS6 is stock for now, but my plans for it in the next couple months are FLP long tube headers, cut out off each header, running through FLP y pipe, with cats and GMMG exhaust. And later a TR224 cam. Anyways, my question is, will this setup be noticeably loud? Basicly will the cats keep it from having a nice loud rumble at idle and a nice throaty wot? Is there really much difference between a Off road pipe and having cats with this setup? I pretty much have to run cats because of emmisions, but will this setup with cats sound similar or anything close compared to an off road pipe? In your opinion, would this setup sound better with cats or Off road pipe? What about rasp? thanks a lot, sorry about it being so long!

Any soundclips or videos would be great, I would love to hear the GMMG with LTs w/ cats!
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate your opinions and help, I just want my exhaust to sound perfect! Thanks again!

A guy in our local club has SLP LT's/ORP/GMMG. Sounds nice but it is LOUD, and can get a bit raspy. My 01 SS had SLP LT's/CATS/Loudmouth. IMHO it was a little quiter, but nicer. No rasp, and WOT it sounded like the devil himself. He just bought my cats (long story) and should be installing them soon. Your car will be loud, but not unlivable, and the cats will get rid of the rasp. LT/CATS/GMMG

I agree, my GMMG IMHO is a little too quiet with the stock manifolds. I am excited about adding longtubes on the car, but i am pretty sure the GMMG will not get to loud, but too raspy with an ORP. I heard an ORP equipped GMMG and the sound changed and became a bit more unrefined. I also saw in person 2 berger cars with longtubes and cats, a regular Burger SS and a cammed ZL1 , I made a mess in my shorts and then went out and got a money order for GMMG.

If you want the original sound of the GMMG with LT Headers, you must have cats welded into the y-pipe. I ran my car for 2 days with LT's, ORY, and the GMMG. It was way too loud, too raspy and it sounded like I had glasspacks. Installed the cats and it tamed it down a bit from idle to 3k rpms after that up too redline it just screams

I am planning on installing the TR224 cam myself sometime next year. So I think it should sound pretty good with a little lope to it.

To me personally, off-road pipes ruin the sound of any LS1(no matter which exhaust it has). I hate that raspy, high-pitched, and unrefined tone they give.

The GMMG sounds TOUGH on an LS1. As long as you keep the cats on, your car will be MEAN. Adding headers(+ cam) only gets better.

A GMMG exhaust, LT Headers, Y-pipe with high flow cats sounds AWESOME!!! It is loud and people will know that you are coming or going, but sounds great doing it. I love mine.

Once I get my high flow cat issue straightened out this week. To make a long story short, one of my Carsound cats failed on me.
Hopefully I will have a new one installed by the end of the week. We got a new Digital camera at work and I will try to bring it home and record a couple vids of my set-up. If I recorded it now, with the bad cat, you will be able to hear the stupid thing rattling

Can you tell me what all is involved with your stage 2 SS? Mainly I am curious to see what kind of cam/heads you have. I've tried to get in contact with M. Murphy at GMMG to figure out what kind of cam is in the 435HP version but haven't heard anything from anyone. The cam seems pretty mild sounding like the one on GMMG's website, I'm guessing no bigger than a 220/220 on a 114LSA.

The clip of that WS6 idling hard on GMMG's website sounds like a 114LSA cam to me too(although its kinda hard to tell because that video was obviously done after a cold start-up). And don't expect anyone at GMMG to tell you what parts they use.

Ok, after just listening to that same clip again of that S2 WS6 idling on GMMG's website I've decided that that probably is a 112 LSA cam. The reason why it doesn't seem real lopey is because the car is using highflow cats and running through a full exhaust set-up. And remember, the GMMG exhaust is very quiet at idle to begin with. Otherwise, through off-road pipes and a cutout or true dual set-up, you'd probably hear that car lope noticeably harder.

Just my theory.
