Wow! Actual gains with MAF ends???
Anyway, I've seen like 6-10 rwhp gains claimed. Can most of you vouch for this mod? Is it one of the "must do's"? I have a stock 98 T/A (still being shipped to me) w/ a Stealth airbox and Pro 5.0 that will be my first mods. I was going to do the exhaust next. Are the MAF ends worth it right now or should I wait until I have a cam?

I clicked the link you provided and I read the entire post. Sorry to hear about your tranny problems. It wasn't in vane though. You and the rest of us at LS1tech are doing serious R&D. We can all learn from this. Kudos to you for going back and completing your post with the final outcome and the "verdict".

It does suck to learn when U aren't ready to upgrade, but fortunatley another board member was upgrading to ARE 436 so I got his slightly used stock 4L60-E for the right price ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
All's well that ends well ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
<strong> UGOT8, IMO MAF ends aren't a good mod for A4's. They are tough on auto tranny's resulting from decreased line pressure. Others may tell you different. That's my 2 cents though. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I have a 98 A4 Formula with ported MAF ends. Hasn't hurt my tranny.
You are correct about the low line pressure damaging the tranny, but that is minimal and most likely won't be noticed. I have almost 80k miles on my car and haven't had one tranny problem besides the tranny mount needing replaced. Just a few bolt-ons, no tuning at all, and I'm runnin low 12s.
Then again...its different for every car.
<strong> AT and MAF ends = dead tranny unles you tune your car <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Wrong. Its different for every car. See my above reply
For us A4 LS1'ers that use our cars/trucks in a competiton mode, ported Maf ends will cause an issue after some heavy abuse without proper tuning ! <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
As for street driven only A4 cars I'm sure the ends may not be so detremental ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Just for the record my Z has seen some serious abuse ! <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
My car has 300+ 1320' passes on it, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> of those 100+ were on the sauce ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
I also have 150+ dyno pulls due to the tuning and testing of parts ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
