Header tube length

Header tube length I live in the Portland Oregon area. In our area DEQ will not pass long tube headers even if you pass emissions level test. They say you can't relocate the cats. Are the shortie headers worth installing? Does anyone have dyno results or drag results.

Re: Header tube length No, shorties aren't worth installing (maybe a little better than stock) and you won't find many around here that run them because of that.

Re: Header tube length RCMSSCamaro, another option would be to port your stock exhaust manifolds, swap your stock cats for a pair of high flow cats from Random Technologies and follow that with a high flow Y pipe.
If you really wanted to go crazy, you could have yout exhaust manifolds extrude honed and Jet Hot coated. That would be really nice, albeit a bit pricey.
Because you're in an area that's so strict, I think this would be an excellent compromise.

Re: Header tube length In the Hot Rod magazine article on 10 best bang for the buck mods they talk about the fact that the LS1 manifolds flow pretty well and high flow cats and y pipe are one of the 10 best mods...especially if you can't do headers.
