Question k&n in a ws6=??problems??

I need to know if anyone has had problems with a k&n filter in a ws6. My car is a everyday driver and it does see some rain. What I want to know is has anyone had any problems with the rain water getting to the filter and does it require the filter to be cleaned more often than normal. I am kind of expecting the rain to turn the dirt it traps to hard mud????

unless your driving threw a lake or water above your hood and your on the stock air box then you will not have a problem. if you don't beileve me then take a gander at how air comes into your engine.

I don't think that you will have a problem unless you drench it.

The reason that I ask is the paper filter that came out was sooooo bowed up it was not making a proper seal in the air box. So there has to be a good amount of moisture getting to the filter.

The air comes straight into the hood & into the air box.

Of the 40,000 other people on here who have WS6's, even those who run custom ram-air setups, about .01% EVER have a water problem.

I like the K&N filters, but lots of people like the stockers. The stock paper filters do a great job, and offer little restriction. My car has a clear lid and a white filter would look like **** under it, or I'd probably run a paper filter too.

I'm doing fine, cutting the baffles out of the WS6 hood and FRA here. Still running strong w/o any problems. Besides a more dirty filter that is.

The only reason I run an oiled filter is because I have the intake sealed to the hood with the baffles removed. The outside of the filter does get wet if it's raining hard but with a clear lid I have never seen any moisture get by.

Only time you may have a problem is if you over oil it and the MAF sensor wire gets oil on them.

You can go about 50,000 miles or more before you need to clean and re-oil.
It just depends where you live and the environment you live in. The filter works better as it gets dirtier.

Some people are a little obsessive and clean it and re-oil every 5,000 to 10,000. The key is to let it dry completely before you install it. You do not want any oil getting into the throttle body or more importantly on the MAF sensor wires. You should just have a paper one on stand by when you clean your K&N. This way you can use your car.
