the quickest and cheapest would be a kit.
other than than that, if you've got an a4, a stall would be one of the cheapest things to do at dropping time.
like asked above, what is your budget?

I also was on a super limited budget. I did the Free Ram Air, T/B bypass, SLP Lid, SLP Bellow, and K&N filter. I bought the bellow and K&N of a member of ls1.com for $35 and the lid for $89 of speedinc. And did the T/B bypass for like $3 from Pepboys buy about 3 feet of tube and 2 clamps and you are done. I def felt a diffrence when it was all done. Check out installuniversity.com They have directions on how to do all the free mods. Very helpful!!

if ur a4 a fuddle 3400 stall will prolly drop your time the most for the cheapest price....other then that you just need to get that baby to breath....start with lid(find um pretty cheap)....port stock tb(free)...tb bypass(free).....and deff some exaust, catback is fine for starters, but always plan for future mods......or if you wanted to save some time and money nos is always an option

I honestly dont know why everybody's FIRST mods arent lid/cutout. lid= ~$100, cutou= ~$100 installed. That right there is between 15-20 RWHP for 200$ and best of all, lid install takes maybe an hour at most, and cutout install takes an exhaust shop about 30 minutes from start to finish!!

A cutout is just a noise maker and if you get a good catback becomes completely pointless from a flow point of view.
