Thanks to everyone for the input. I got the Autozone battery because of the 3 yr replacement warranty. Easy install except for the bottom bracket which does not hold the battery very securely. The original Delco was exactly the same, maybe even a little looser.

I think the problems are caused by our one wire alternator. I've replaced the alternator 2 times already. Fortunately they are easy to place by yourself if you are out of warranty with $109 rebuilt ones. When the voltage regulator in the alternator goes bad, it overcharges and then the alternator dies. During the overcharge it kills the battery. I had one Delco, and 1 Optima Red leaking at the + terminal. Battery acid ate my paint near the tray. Both replaced under warrantee. The Optima I got from Pep Boys, and they honor the warranty without even looking at my battery. I just told them my problem, and they just told me to bring it in with my receipt for a new one no charge.

And I still have my original factory battery in my 98 Camaro. I must be on borrowed time.

And I'm still running the original Delco battery in my '95 Chevy G20 work van. BTW, last couple of mornings up here in Central Mass. it's been 10 below ZERO. 145,000 miles, over 7 yrs. old.....I can't knock Delco batteries--no way. Best wishes everyone. LOL at the optima batteries not lasting a long time, I have had a yellow top in my car for about 4.5 years and it works great.

A buddy of mine has had one of the red in his Mustang for 5+ years and it is still perfect.

I bought my Optima Red top in July of 97 for my 95 camaro and when i traded it in on my 98 i switched batteries there at the dealership. I still have that 5 1/2 year old battery . It has never not started on me, and that includes probably 100 or so times of listening to my 850 watt stereo system for hours at a time with the car off. Now all my families cars run optimas with no problem (knock on wood) <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />
