Re: qtec electric cutout Mine was great for about 6 weeks. Now it is starting to loosen up. The exhaust can push the butterfly a little bit. I called QTP and asked how to solve the problem. He suggested flicking the switch towards closed for a fraction of a second a few times. This helps the gears situate themselves a little tighter. I tried it and it worked a little. He also suggested putting a bead of RTV around the lip of the body for the butterfly to rest against. Have not tried that yet.

Re: qtec electric cutout unless you seriously think you need/want it, I would put it in the I pipe by the rear axle. It is definitely loud enough and non-restrictive if you have an ORY.

I have 3" ORY and 3.5" I pipe with that cutout and I have to keep it close to avoid migranes. It's really rough. It shakes the car. Smells like hydrocarbons. Nice!
I like the auto button (don't know if QTEC selling it yet, but you can get one) I launch with it closed and immediately open it going down the track. I get about 3-4mph with the cutout open in the 1/4.

Re: qtec electric cutout I just had my car dynoed today with the QTEC closed, then open. I picked up 12 RWHP and 9 RWTQ. There was *zero* loss at low RPMs, so I don't see why you would care to launch closed/open later, but that is just based on my dyno graph.

Re: qtec electric cutout I've been waiting for a little decent weather to install my QTEC. With an A4 equipped w/ASR, and keeping the ashtray, where would you recommend mounting the switch? I'm thinking about next to the hatch release, but not sure the best way to get the wires there if I come into the passenger compartment from the plug under the rear seat. Can you fish the wiring under the carpet, or do I have to cut through and hide it under the mat?

Re: qtec electric cutout I ran my wire from the cutout, through the tunnel brace bracket on the pass side, under the pass side heat shield (yea the big one), up ovet the tranny, into the lower shift boot. I used a soldering iron to make the hole. Then mounted the switch in the ash tray. Make sure you use a sharp bit to drill the hole and use WD40 to keep it from chipping apart. I used black convoluted tubing around the wire. Install looks very clean. Also go to a muffler shop and have them fabricate a turndown for it. They will have to cut out the bolts that are on the flowtech y.
