Indeed they are all based on the old "Grot" design but it was not Roger Grotyohann that designed these, he just marketed as best he could until he could not keep up in which case he simply faded away and Grots became a scarce header system. Then along came 1.)QTP 2.)Thunder 3.) PPC and all in which they made certain revisions to the design as to not include ball joint connections between the collectors and y-pipe and upgraded the casting diameter of the A.I.R. and E.G.R. provisions. Plus we all know how in demand a quality y-pipe was for the system.

There is no "correct answer", just different opnions.

Re: HEADER POLL
OK....
Yes, It's no secret that the PPC, Thunder & QTP LT headers are all the same unit. Yes, they are EXACTLY the same thing as what used to be called a Groty.
Yes, I provided my car to the header manufacturer in order for THEM to properly design the EGR & AIR fittings (do it right.. high quality). If PPC, Thunder or QTP orders the headers from the manufacturer with these fittings (PPC does).... they will be very high quality. If they're added on after..... well....
Yes, each company (PPC, Thunder & QTP) makes their own Y-pipes.
Yes, PPC offers the pipes with or without R.T. Cats. We will only use R.T. cats due to their high flow & high quality.
Thanks,
Gordon

I might have even considered using cats had Bassani offered them with their Y-pipe, and if I ever do get cats welded in RTs are the only ones I would consider. I hate the trash cats that most y-pipes come with, and I wish more would follow this lead. I know that SLP has always offered RT cats, but I don't care for their headers.
