Default slp MAF

so hae any of u guys ever de-screened your SLP MAFs? i know that this not good in the way that it lets more crap into the intake but it says on the site that it will make it flow better, so i figure if the company is advertising that altering thier product makes an improement, than it might be worth it!! Im sure im wrong so feel free!!!!

Personally I wouldn't even change MAFs. The stocker is fine for even cars making alot of power. The screen is basically there to straighten the air, and you want the air to be flowing as straight as possible. I have descreened a couple of stock MAFs and a SLP MAF and couldn't tell any difference whatsoever.

descreening really doesnt do much...i dont really know what a gain on it would be but u open those nodes up to more damage...along with the fact u got a slp maf...which u prolly didnt need...the stock one is fine up to 500hp...soo u should have wasted the money on something else...plus alot of shops dont like tuning with that maf...

He bought what he wanted and he has it, so theres no sense in ridin him about it after the fact. Honestly, i have my stock maf yet, and i've never de-screened it. For the tiny, non-sensable gain you would get from it, it is simply not worth it, when you consider how costly damage would be if something ever got in there and caused something catastrophic. Obviously the chances of this are slim to none, but, if you're looking for a reason to pull the screen, it either means you've done every other mod you could want or you cant afford them right now, like most of the rest of us including me. It's not worth it in my opinion, and i think it's better to be patient and mod your car in a sensible order. Again this is just my opinion, i'm not tryin to be offensive or anything, it's just how i feel. Either way, good luck to you!

SLP MAF sucks. I'd suggest anyone and everyone to keep the stocker. It's very hard to tune for once you start stepping things up to a cam, headers and heads.

i believe in slp's description is say u can decreen it for more flow if needed in harcore applications, i dont think;

ported throttle body
Fernco Mod
loudmouth exhaust
SLP Lid
free ram air
Cross drilled/ Slotted rotors
qualifys as a hardcore application or even needed anyhing over the stock screened maf
