Fernco Hose problems? What exactly is the problem with a Fernco coupling between the MAF and TB?
I've had mine on for 6 months without cracking of the Lid nor any other problems even after 12 passes on the 1/4 mile.
Why do so many owners complain?

That is... I could get it on the TB. And I could get it on the MAF. But I couldn't get it to stay on both at the same time! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Re: Fernco Hose problems? I think the biggest problem with the Fernco hose is you have to choose a hose that is too large or too small, the correct size would be 3.5 X 3.75... which Fernco doesn't make.

Re: Fernco Hose problems? I trimmed mine up and made it look all perty like and thought it was the cats ***.... but give it time..... it will crack your lid.... I had about 8,000 miles on mine and perhaps 70 passes and took it off to clean the MAF and the bottom where it attaches to the maf was cracked in 2 places <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Re: Fernco Hose problems? When I put it on the TB, it sticks straight out. It need to angle up a little to meet up with the natural angle of the lid and maf. Couldn't get it to do that. I even heated it up so it was more pliable.

Re: Fernco Hose problems? throw it in the microwave for a good 45 secs to 1 min on a low power level, observe as to not melt it. (done that and now its a badass papaerweight).
assemble your lid to your maf and then slip on the fernco. tighten down all the band connectors and then push the whole assembly onto the throttle body and just really work it on there is the best way to go about it. once on tighten down the last band connector to secure a good seal throughout the whole component.

Re: Fernco Hose problems? 1 side of the fernco i left alone. The other got trimmed from the middle to the top. It was trimmed on about a 22degree angle . When I was done there was no clamp groove at the very top of the FERNCO. If you look at the stock bellows it should have an angle formed into it from being on there for a length of time. Just replicate the angle by trimming the fernco. I didnt try and bend the fernco, I let the 2 pieces slide together on angle. Then pulled it together with the clamp. If you didnt know any better you couldnt tell mine wasnt suppose to be there.

Re: Fernco Hose problems? i've had my Fernco on the car with a GMS lid for over 40,000 miles with no problems. trimmed mine at the top on the throttle body side untill it fit like the stock bellow.
