ok heres what u do to solve the problem....go get a manual cutout for 35$, get it welded on the I pipe before the muffler....so ur flowmaster wont go to waste bc they actually do sound good, but u can get that performance out of the cutout

Probably because all you got was a little more noise. The Flowmaster flows like crap; may as well be a stock muffler.
Not trying to be rude at all, but next time I'd suggest doing some research on here or other F-body sites before purchasing mods. It will save you money in the long run and you'll learn a thing or two in the process. Pretty much the only guys I know that run Flowmaster catbacks/mufflers on F-body cars are the ones that either:
A) Are rednecks and live way out in the middle of nowhere
or
B) Know nothing about their car besides that it's a Camaro/Trans Am and it's fast. They never do any research and don't know a damn thing about the car. "It's got uh V8, that's all uh know! The Mustangs all have it and it sounds real good, so I got it too."
I am by no means saying that you're either one of these kind of people, just saying that those are the only two types of people I've seen who will ever run Flowmaster on their F-bodies.

I know there is supposed to be some kind of science behind the flowmaster design that is supposed to promote better scavenging. I personally don't see it, or maybe I'm too simple minded to understand it. But if you look at the internals of them there are a series of BAFFLES and CHAMBERS that your exhaust is FORCED to flow around and through. How can this possibly be a good thing, is my question. I know, I know, it's supposed to trick your engine into thinking the exhaust is bigger or some crap like that. All I have to say about that is .... BULLSHIT! I'll take my Ultraflows (which I can easily see straight through) anyday!

I wasn't too happy when I installed my catback flowmaster. Thats why I'm having a cutout installed. When I rebuild my motor I'm going with longtubes and Holley afterburners like I had on my 83z28, there was a raunchous sound.

just kidding............mine was on the car when I bought her.. Sounds great but I DO have an electric cutout.

Just stating my general experience with those who have it. I know that there are of course exceptions and people who will swear by it, but I think most of us know that the performance it gives is less than desirable. The cutout on your car was a good idea.
before we start bashing flowmaster too much lets all agree were talking about the 80 series crossflow , other flowmasters flow very well but arent used on our cars unless in a TD setup .

Yeah, any crossflow muffler is gonna eat some power simply due to having to send some of the exhaust 180* from where it's wanting to go. The Blowmaster unit is apparently the worst crossflow you can find.
But I'd love to hear an LS1 with TDs through a couple of Super 40s.
