Default Steering funny after Header install...

Maybe it's my imagination but after my FLP install earlier this week my steering has seemed much stiffer. Especially turning to the right, I really don't know how to describe it, anyone have any idea what I might be talking about, and what to check?

The knuckle on the steering shaft may be right up against one of the primaries. Check that first. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks for the quick responce, it's too late and cold for me to check right now, but let's say that it is the knuckle being to close to a primary. What's the best way to fix it? Bang it outta the way?

Don't bang on it! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> That could possibly deploy the airbag. If the knuckle is rubbing... When you find the spot that is rubbing, turn the wheel so it is exposed. Then try to grind it down with a dremel. That is what a buddy of mine had to do after installing Macs.

Yup I would be about 80% sure that it is the knuckle hitting one of the primaries. That is a very common thing in our cars with long tubes.

You should be able to adjust the four bolts going through the firewall that hold the steering column! just my .02 c <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The GM factory nut on mine had a built-in(non-removeable) flat washer similar to the flat washer the crank pully has. When the wheel was turned the edge of the flat washer would rub the side of the header pipe. You can remove the airbag FUSE if you want to do a little banging on your header, but I wouldn't get too wild with it. I'd loosen up all the fasteners first and try shifting everything around before I started swinging a 3lb maul.
