sounds like an exhaust leak. What gaskets did you use?

I got pacesetters. Same problem; used the cheat paper gaskets that came with them. turns out one of my welds has a hole in it with a nice black streak where its leaking at.

Try waiting until dark and look under the hood with no light - could be something as simple as a plug wire arcing.

Ok ill try that but where the headers connect to the y pipe, does it suppose to have a weld or just screw them on. and the tapping sound is coming from under the hood not under the car. it is loud when I put the windows up. when the windows down barly hear it

If it's a fast ticking sort of sound, like someone tapping a balpoint pen on a table quickly, it could be your air system check valves, if you didn't delete it. I had a hell of a problem finding out what it was, since it still happened after I put new check valves in, and didn't go away until I completely removed the air system and put blockoff plates on.

I noticed a tapping noise after my header install and everyone told me that it was header ping. Sounds like lifter noise. Headers do ping, that's why some people don't like headers.

This site used to be called LS1tick.com, I've been looking for my tick for over a year.

I know mine make noises too, sometimes sounds like an exhaust leak, but i have none. Valvetrain noise is more noticeable too. I just live with it. You can always drive it for a little while and then check for leaks, they will be noticeable with black soot around the leak.

I just got rid of my tick last night with the real seal Percy's header flange gaskets. Dead soft aluminum is bad *** technology!

Collector flanges or head flanges? I might have to give them a try..... if they are re-usable.......

I know it sounds stupid, but check to make sure all your spark plugs are tight.
