Default power steering pump pulley removal ???

In a prevoius post I mentioned that I needed to remove the power steering pump pulley from my 2000 Corvette LS1. Replys talked about a puller which I have and attempted to use but the small cast rim that accepted the puller broke off before the pulley move. Now what??? If I widen the puller and try to take the pulley off by grasping the outer edges of the pulley itself it seems as if the pulley would crack and break. Any need to heat the center shaft, what role does the center hex nut play? Thanks for any suggestions.

Yea, you need a proper power steering pulley puller. They look completely different than a normal puller(2 or 3 jaws.)
