Well i finally got around to ripping out the air and emissions crap, that was a piece of cake, not sure why i didnt do it earlier. So i start up the car and its fine, no exhaust leaks or anything. But isnt removing that crap supposed to throw an SES light?? So im not sure what to think, im glad to not have the light blaring in my face, but am confused. is the system not registering anything missing? Should i be ok for emissions since no light is being thrown or should i get it checked out and deleted if need be, Any thoughts as to why im not getting a light?
Unless the bulb is out or the previous owner removed it to cover up an issue. Does the SES come of briefly when you start the car? If not take it to Autozone if it does not come on soon. They can scan it and tell you what codes the PCM is reporting.
I want to remove the AIR system from my car as well. Is the removal pretty much just unbolt, take the **** out, and button everything back up? Secondly, are there any issues with removing it, other than an SES light? Will it affect drivability or anything? If it' s just the light, I don' t really give a ****....damn light has been on for about 3 years now anyway, because the damn PCM won' t read my rear driver 02 sim. The issue started before I even messed with the O2 sensors, so when I put the off-road pipes on is and installed the O2 sims the problem continued. I even swapped the O2 sensors to opposite sides, and the problem still continues, but I don' t have money falling out of my *******, to go pay someone to delete 1 ****** code at this point. I' ll take care of that, when I get the cam in.

Yes, it is. Only thing is you have to block off the connections on the manifold or header. You can buy block off plates or make your own. I cut out sections of an old air duct and sandwiched a gasket between the metal and the header.

There is absolutely no performance oriented reason for having AIR or EGR. You will not miss them one bit. BTW: I recommend getting the light turned off by someone with the proper software so that if something else goes wrong you can be notified. If the light is already on you won't notice a second code....

What code is it? As long as you know what the code is and it's not a problem you could wait until you get a cam swap/tune and have it all taken care of at that point. I wouldn't want to drive for a terribly long time with an engine light though.

I intend to do a little cleaning of the engine bay, and that would be nice to get rid of! I intend to get it turned off as soon as possible.

I don' t recall the exact code off hand, but I have checked it with autotap, as well, as Snap-on diagnostic computers several times, and it' s nothing major, just not reading the sensor for some reason. Two of my uncles are mechanics, so I have easy access to diagnostic computers, so I will just have to keep checking my codes from time to time. I still have some exhaust work to do, install my clutch and cam, then i can get the whole **** tuned like it should be. I hate to keep forking over money for tunes for knick-knack bullshit, when I have to get it tuned for my cam anyway.

BTW - MTI only charged me $75 to delete the EGR/AIR/Rear O2 codes, which is less than what a set of O2 simulators cost.

Hey, a new sticky. (I havn't been around much lately...)
And O2 sims don't seem to last forever, for anybody. I had sims for one year and two of them took a crap on me over that time period.
I found by unplugging the AIR pump (I physically removed it) but leaving the relay, solenoid, fuse all plugged in, the PCM will not throw any codes.
I left everything in mine, even the pump, but I removed the hose where it goes over the driverside fender and blocked off the header tubes. It would come on and just blow air into the engine bay. I STILL got coded.
Some people's emissions systems are smarter than others!
The SES light does come on when i start the car so i know its not burnt out, I guess ill just wait until it comes on, then delete it when i get the headers installed, ive learned its better to do everything at once. Ripping all that stuff out though was really easy, i recommend doing it for everyone unless your emissions is strict in your state.

Apparently Baton Rouge, LA suffers from a major case of inflation!! Maybe because I asked to delete both the codes for AIR AND O2 sensors, but the price I got is nowhere near as fair.
