Default Ready to get a cat-back!

Alright... my birthday has come and gone and this poor college student has some cash in the bank... I'm wantin to get a catback for my Z28, but my money isn't gonna come close to coverin it... I was wanting a gmmg... but I'm probably going to have about 300 or 400 to spend on the car tops. Any ideas or suggestions?!

You could go with SLP Loudmouth or Flowmaster. The loudmoth is very loud and the flowmaster is not. Both retail for under $400.

Check out Mufflex, i have a 4" catback single hide away.. Sounds great and has the sleeper look, until you crawl under the back end. They are not as over priced as some of the big name brands and reasonibly priced. Isnt that scarey? Good Luck

You can get a Hooker for about $300.

As far as exhaust goes though, you may want to just get the Hooker aerochamber muffler installed by itself. That would give 90% of the benefit of the catback and still leave you with enuff cash to get something else...like a lid.

I just put a Hooker catback on my 00'Z28 and am very pleased with the sound and noticeable power increase.

If you are that hard up for cash, get a cut out and a lid. That should give you 20hp.

Save your nickles and dimes until you can afford a GMMG. You'll be miles ahead.

I like the hooker catback myself - in fact I just got through taking the aerochamber and included pipes out the back off for some wide open exhaust action this weekend. It cost me about 265 bucks from thunder racing and it took me about 5 minutes to take off. Good luck.

Check out the SLP TwoOnTheLeft catback.....I installed it this weekend & I love it.

It's just slightly louder @ idle, but go WOT & it screams! The entire install took less than 2hrs (includes removing old exhaust).

FWIW, this is a sweet sounding, different catback that is an absolute breeze to install.

-Andy

(BTW, it was $399 from SLP, but some sponsors run specials from time to time)

But seriously. Heres a great COST effective set up. go to ?www.exhaustproslinc.com and order the Magnaflow muffler for your stock system. Guys have been RAVING about he magnaflow stuff in the last 6 mos since more guys are trying them! And its cheap. Also get a cut out ($35) from wherever sponsors/summit. Have them both installed. Just around town the magnaflows gonna sound SWEEEEET. and you can either uncap the cut out/add a power plate later/or use stainless washers as spacers to adjust the tone if you wanna really intimidate guys. It'll all told installed be under $200. Get tips later or stay stealthy.

Honestly i chucked my hooker muffler for a magnaflow replacement.Nice tone.

are you guys kiddin'? none of you have mentioned Borla. The price may be the only reason to shy away from it. Other than that, it is a great exhaust system. As for high flow, how can you argue with Borla with no plate? Just my opinion. It is sort of loud, especially at WOT but who cares? It sounds great to me! Good luck!

ok, i re-read your post and i have to make a correction. I did'nt realize your emphasis on money. I say go for Hooker with a cut out. A cut out is about as close ar your gonna get to running wide open headers. Just another one of my opinions!

MAGNAFLOW RULES I love my catback not to loud on freeway but really wails when you put the boot to it costs about $400 delivered and its stainless steel.
