Default flowmaster muffler w jet hot headers

I have a 2001 camaro ss and its got the flowmaster cat back on it and i was wondering what the car would sound like when you put on the aftermarket headers. Ive got my mind set on buying the jet hot's i was just curious abuot how the sound would be bc i see that flowmaster gets trashed alot on here and on most forums.

They sound awesome, never heard one with headers but I used to have one myself that came on my car. Why are you set on the jet hots instead of the awesome/cheap/proven pacesetters?

The only reason the Flowmaster gets bashed is because it doesn't flow very well compared to nearly all of the other exhausts. It does sound good.

If you add headers and run a catted Y then it probably won't sound all that different, maybe a little deeper, more pronounced and slightly louder. Running an ORY will be the same but just MORE espcially in the volume department.

I agree on the headers though. I would do it one of two ways, cheap or expensive.

If cheap:
-Pacesetters - proven fit, quality and performance. TSP sells them at great prices along with their own ORY or catted Y pipe
-Edlebrock - Great design and well made, ORY has excellent merge collector. Only downer is no catted Y is offered

Expensive:
QTP, Kooks & Stainless works - they are all really well made and in stainlees steel so look pretty and will last. Although there no real benefit in the HP department.

Yes it does sound very good with headers and the flowmaster cat back. I removed mine and put a hooker cat back on since it supposedly flows better. If I had to do it again I would get an electric cutout and have kept the flowmaster system since it looks and sounds better than the hooker system.

Also if I had to do the headers again I woud get the more expensive QTP stainless ones.

I'm looking at getting the Supermaxx system. I have a modified FM catback; I switched out the original cross-flow muffler for an SUV single-in/dual out. I didn't notice a HP difference either way, but I did decrease interior db level by 5 points.
