electric QTP cutout feedback please
I was thinking about buying a electric cutout in the near future, and now i have to decide which to go with......
QTP-obviously alot of guys on here run them, but have any of you had problems with the motors seizing after a period of time? I mean he does offer a 25 day warranty i think, but what about after that???
DMH-this is the other company I ran into when I put in a simple google search. yes they are more expensive at 175 or something fro the same cutout. But they also offer a 3 year warranty. Does anyone run this cutout? Had any problems?
Any feedback from personal experience would be great.
FYI-my car has hooker LT's with ORP and it IS 100% DAILY DRIVEN RAIN OR SHINE(college student)
Thanks,
Tim

The QTEC is a great mod!

Re: electric QTP cutout feedback please
ive heard some people say that after a while the exhaust pushing on the blade causes it to loosen up...i saw one on tv that was like a sliding plate door over the hole, looked pretty stout, and also wondering would a muffler shop be able to install the QTEC wiring and all?

Tell you what, the install pics for both
kinds are pretty fugly. I don't know why
they don't make a saddle fitting that
you could put on with a hole saw and a
single MIG bead, instead of making you
chop the I-pipe in half and weld in a
non-stainless piece in the middle.
That, and they ought to offer a WOT switch
("shut up until you mean it") instead of a
dashboard toggle.
I do want one of these but it would be way
nicer to not bugger up the pipe and interior
so much.

Wire your own with a NOS-type WOT switch, it ain't brain surgery.

Re: electric QTP cutout feedback please
Not only did my blade loosen up, it came off the shaft. QTP sent me new screws which I used Loctite to hold. No problems after that.
It does not seal completely when closed in spite if the work arounds.
Would I buy it again?
You betcha!

Re: electric QTP cutout feedback please
i have a QTEC and it works great
the only problem i had was that the screws on the butterfly plate were coming out and Barry sent me some new screws and i put those on with some lock tyte...
QTEC comes with great customer service, but with your QTEC, you have to maintain it like everything else, clean, tighten, ect
there is another choice but really expensive:
< Electric Cut Out >
if any other questions, ask away

Re: electric QTP cutout feedback please
I love my QTEC and I open and close it all the time. It has been on my car for a 1 1/2 years with no problems. Video of it in sig. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I had the MPP2 and it lasted one week. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> I would buy another QTEC in a heartbeat. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
