I just heard rnr27band1's hooker cat-back tonight and it was sounding awesome. Much more refined than when he had his LM on there, plus it didn't break the bank.

here is your answer, HOOKER CATBAK
i have long tubes, ory pipe and hooker catback and a nowhere near stock motor and i have NO rasp and no drone, this catback is the bomb. i went through ,LM MAC catback, flowmaster catback, and variations of the 3 but the hooker is by far the best and cheaper too.

I've had countless people tell me a long bullet muffler in the I-pipe would help significantly. IT DID ALMOST NOTHING! Plus, it bangs the floorboard when I hit bumps sometimes...
I not going to frankenstein this exhaust system anymore. It would be another $40 plus welding + ~$40. That's another $80 sunk into this piece of junk.... More non-stainless steel mufflers in an otherwise fully stainless system.. more weight... a waste..
I can still sell my LM, it's not very old...
PLUS, I got ordered the Magnaflow for $330 shipped. Hooker, for some reason would have cost me more?!?!?!

I had Jet Hot LT's into a custom 3"Y-Pipe with no cats into a Loudmouth and I didn't think it was that bad.
I also had a flowmaster collector on the y-pipe so that might have helped with the rasp and drone.

My suggestion wasn't a guess, I was speaking from my personal experience. I had the exact setup you have and it completely cured the rasp problem, reduced the sound level to a much more acceptable level, and sounded better to boot. It actually cost me $40 total and added maybe five pounds to the weight of the car.

I had a similar set-up as you(Mac Headers with Dynomouth) and rasp is horrible around 2K. I don't think anybody has mentioned this, but I got rid of that POS y-pipe collector(that fits inside the stock I-pipe, look at it, it's horribly tiny!) and got a flomaster y-collector(2.5" inlets that go smoothly into a 3" outlet). NO RASP!!! I'm still not used to it. I strongly recommend getting that. I don't know if it would get rid of %100 of rasp with loudmouth, but with my single in/out hooker aerochmaber I have none. You can get the part through summit, or Jeg's.

I am putting a loudmouth on my WS.6. I assume that if I change the y-pipe to the matching SLP YP I won't have this trouble?

I wouldn't buy the slp y-pipe if you have plans on getting headers in the future because headers usually come with with Y-pipes.

There's a couple of reason's I'm not getting headers. 1) I want to stay as legal as possible. 2) It's a Collector's Edition and I don't want to make that big of a mod. I do want to change the y-pipe because of that big flat section in the factory one.

I was thinking about going with the MAC'S and the high flow cats. I have to keep them in , I drive the car and in California, they really require the cats. How much of a rasp will I have. I have the LM now. I liek the sound. What will the MAC mid-lengths with high flow cts do to me?

ASA did a dyno test of the stock Y pipe compared to an aftermarket y-pipe (SLP) that is not squished.
..the new y-pipe did not make any measurable difference ....so don;t waste your money....

Fulllineexhaust.com
1-800-264-8035
I received it yesterday. Came nicely packaged, with bubble wrap around the polished tips. Looks really good!
I'm going to install it tonight, wish me luck!

Ok well let me start by saying I have the following setup. Macs ORY and Magnaflow catback. I loved the catback but after installing the Macs there was a rasp from 2k to 2.5k.
Now I had a Dynomax 12" bullet installed in the I-pipe. It totally got rid of the rasp so you may wanna hang on to that bullet you put on your LM.
I read on here about the Flowmaster y collector. Does anyone have a link to where I can buy it on the web????
Thanks.

Well, I just installed the Magnaflow system, and it sounds MUCH MUCH better! Overall the system is much quieter.
Driving around "normal" there is NO rasp at all, but if I really get on it, I notice a slight rasp. Nothing like is was however!
Also, the Loudmouth "drone" seems to be gone also.
I'm very happy with the results, and I love the look of the polished tips (which LM didn't have).
Plus the extra two hangers that come with the kit (in the back) make the system much sturdier.
I can finally relax, and actually take my car on a long trip....

Congrats! I wish I could hear how it sounds. I want the same setup someday. Things a tight right now though.
I am running FLP headers and OPR. The Magnaflow should give it a nice finishing touch.
Enjoy.

All i got to say is Listen to Cysevens Exhaust, OMFG it's prefect, True duals,Dual tips out the Back, and you and add 2 high flow cats if it's 2 loud for ya, Only drawl Back is relocating the PanHardBar But that isn't to much trouble for such a sweet *** sounding exhaust system

another thing you can do and i have seen this work on a few cars is to put a flowmaster collector on the mac y-pipe or have a custom y-pipe made.

Well, last night I did the final "adjustment" on the new cat-back (it was banging a bit at the cross member/y-pipe spot. I shimmed it down with a few washers and longer bolts (and massaged it with a sledge hammer a bit!)
Now it is PERFECT. Not one bang, squeak or rattle under any condition. I can floor it on the bumpiest road, stop short while turning over potholes, and no more banging... Needless to say, I am very pleased.
Yeah, I have to check out those heads.
I'm going to get dynoed tomorrow with a/f at Eastside, so hopefully I can tune my WOT accurately this way.
