Default ASP pulley question....

Excuse my ignorance....when changing the alternator and crank pulleys, is this a mod that the computer must "re-learn" to obtain its full performance?

This mod doesn't affect engine function air, exhaust etc so I do not thing that the computer will have to relearn this.

How do you like the ASP pulley? Also do you have an A4 or M6?

if you have an automatic, you need to be aware of the fact that full charge will not occur at idle in drive, for M6 cars, this is not a problem.

I have not heard that pulleys will contribute to knock retard, unless you put them on wrong I suppose.

Everyone I talk to on the subject suggests to only use the ASP crank pulley and not to bother with changing the alternator pulley. Less complications apparently.

Are there more powerful alternators available to off set the slower idle?

Do you have the ASP alternator AND crank pulley? If so, any charging issues at all?

P.S. FWIW, I have an M6.

I have the ASP installed with no comlaints. No alternator pulley, or noticeable knock retard. Good mod as far as I'm concerned!

After my ASP pulley install, my steering wheel has play in it, from stop and roll. It can move either way about 1/2" until it grabs, and the car starts to turn.

Anyone else like this?

We did it at the same time as headers, but we adjusted the steering rack properly.
