with my ls1 swap i dont use the oil press sensor on rear of block behind intake. Can i put a fitting in there and just hook up a autometer gauge into that spot to get oil pressure?

Yep... That's how mine is hooked up.

You'll need an adapter fitting to convert the metric threads in the block to 1/8" NPT.

Autometer makes the correct adapter, but I can't remember the specific size right off hand...

OK, I just looked on Autometer's web site. IIRC, Autometer p/n 2266 is the correct adapter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Is this for an electrical or mechanical gauge? Can this fitting be used for an electrical oil pressure gauge?

Right above your oil filter is a small cover. I believe on the corvette it is actually threaded for an oil temp. sensor, which may be the same sensor as your coolant temp sensor. I took mine off drilled and tapped it 1/8 NPT and installed a mechanical guage there (just so I could see some oil pressure when I was trying to prime my pump on a new engine). I plan to use it later for an oil temp sensor.
